The West Nipissing Ice Fishing Tournament is a non-profit organization to help raise funds for the local Jr. A hockey team. People came from everywhere to participate. During the first two years, all profits were paid to the hockey team. Although successful from the onset, the organizers changed the location of the tournament for the second year to give the anglers better opportunities to catch more and bigger fish. That move was very popular indeed as over 1,000 fish were caught in the following two years. Also impressive was the size of the fish registered, with many weighing in the 1 to 2 kilos and even up to 4 kilos. Comments such as 'well-organized', 'fun', 'exciting', 'great prizes' and 'well run family event' were passed on to the organizers. |
